Those famous lyrics to Elvis’ classic “Viva Las Vegas” pretty much set the tone for Sin City, don’t they? The town that was once out in the middle of nowhere changed its course forever when gangster Bugsy Siegel came from back east and envisioned a mecca for gambling and entertainment. His famous Flamingo Hotel opened in 1946, and 61 yrs later, Las Vegas is now considered the “Entertainment Capital of the World”

The city is known for its giant hotel/casino complexes, great golfing, cheap buffets and intense heat. The summertimes can see temperatures regularly exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Las Vegas is known to be getaways for bachelor/bachellorette parties and also weddings/ceremonies in casino chapels.

The city of Las Vegas was named “American City Of The Year” at the World Leadership Awards. It has been recognized as a world leader and the American City of the Year for its commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents.

A few years ago they tried to make Las Vegas into a family place. Oops, big mistake. Today, they have changed back to the idea of “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”.

There are other things in the region to check out, such as Hoover Dam to the southeast, Red Rock Canyon National Park to the northwest, but in reality, if you’re coming to Vegas, you’re coming for the gambling and the shows on “The Strip.”

Don’t let the pink exterior fool you, the Circus Circus Adventuredome is filled with action and thrills. Housed beneath a five-and-a-half-acre glass encasement, the Adventuredome promises fun for the whole family, young and old.

As soon as you set foot in the Adventuredome, you will find yourself face to face with the park’s thrilling ride, The Sling Shot, which shoots you up toward the ceiling at 4 Gs and brings you back down at -1 G. The ride is fast and packs a powerful punch.

If you’re ready to take a “spin” on the fun side, adventure seekers and music lovers alike can enjoy the excitement of Disk ‘O, which moves at an astounding 14 rotations per minute on its 100-foot roller coaster track. You’ll find yourself spinning and twirling in different directions the entire time.

Another ride you can’t help but notice is the Canyon Blaster. Far from traditional, the high-speed roller coaster gives riders a 90-foot-high view of the park and boasts the only double-loop, double-corkscrew track in the United States.

Two other rides that will surprise you with a number of twists and turns are the Inverter and Chaos. The Inverter takes you 50 feet off the ground as it flips a full 360 degrees while Chaos spins you upside-down, backward and counterclockwise.

If you find yourself breaking a sweat from some of the more extreme rides, take a moment to cool off on the Rim Runner. Riders are left wondering what’s behind every turn as they travel downstream, finally plunging down a 60-foot drop and getting thoroughly drenched.

But not all of the attractions are as adventurous: “Fun House Express” is an IMAX Ride Film that takes you on a demented clown’s journey through the bowels of a fun house. For all you Marvin the Martian fans, experience your favorite cartoon character in a whole new dimension at the 4-D Special FX Theatre.

Other options include a miniature golf course, laser tag, an arcade as well as clown shows, bumper cars and a number of midway booths.

It is a distinguishing attraction of the Bellagio Hotel, which was inspired by the Bellagio Resort in Lake Como Italy. The hotel concept was conceived by Mirage Resorts owner Steve Wynn. It is featured in the film, Ocean’s Eleven. The Bellagio Fountain is situated on an eight acre lake which is located in front of the hotel.
Steve Wynn engaged the services of Wet Design® to build the Fountains of Bellagio. When he conferred with the designers in 1995, he told them that he wished to create a fountain that “would be vibrantly kinetic and elating for visitors, while expressing the romantic spirit of Bellagio.” As a result of this collaboration, the Fountains of Bellagio are considered to be one of the most complex and impressive water features that have ever been designed.
The Bellagio Fountain is located within the lake. They span over 1,000 feet in length. More than 1,000 water nozzles coordinate with 4,000 lights, which work in conjunction with specific musical patterns. There are three types of water nozzles that were used to create the Bellagio Fountain. Oarsmen swing back and forth, thus creating the illusion of dancing water. Shooters are capable of shooting water upwards. The super shooters can send a water blast as high as 250 feet.
The movements of the water respond to the Bellagio Fountain music. Some of the water choreography is continuous, in response to the smooth, legato musical passages. Other water jets pulse rapidly in response to music that is lively and staccato. The Bellagio Fountain music was chosen by Steve Wynn for its fountain shows. A wide variety of musical styles are represented. Bellagio Fountain music ranges from classical and operatic pieces to popular music and notable songs from Broadway shows. Additionally, musicians and performance artists assisted in choreographing the fountain movements to suit the various musical selections. Some examples of Bellagio music include:

One, Singular Sensation from A Chorus Line

Luck Be A Lady from Guys and Dolls

Hey, Big Spender from Sweet Charity

Hallelujah Chorus by Handel

Your Song by Elton John

God Bless The USA by Lee Greenwood

These popular free Las Vegas attractions are performed on Monday through Friday between 3:00 and 8:00 PM. There is a show every half hour. From 8:00 PM till midnight, there is a Bellagio Fountain show every 15 minutes. On weekends, the shows begin at 12:00 PM. If you are looking for fantastic free Las Vegas attractions, the Bellagio Fountain Las Vegas is second to none.

Since RM Seafood opened on Valentine’s Day, 2005, Rick Moonen has set a new standard for seafood in Las Vegas. Located at the mouth of Mandalay Bay, an upstairs dining room with a yacht-club feel attracts a mix of high rollers and locals. Playful touches include portholes that peek down on tanks of live crustaceans. A champion of sustainability, Moonen simply prepares seasonal sea life to preserve their natural advantages. Beverage Director Jeff Eichelberger is similarly intent on maintaining the earth’s bounty for perpetuity, favoring organic, biodynamic wines. Top desserts utilize fresh fruit in tarts and ice cream.

Jasmine is quite probably the best place in Las Vegas for a romantic meal. It is also the only place in Las Vegas that features the nouveaux Hong Kong cuisine of Chef Philip Lo. Lo, who has been named one of “America’s Outstanding Chefs” by Chefs in America draws on the sheer depth of Cantonese cuisine to deliver modern interpretations of classic Chinese food. With the Bellagio fountain show as a backdrop, a winning wine list, chic food and a decor that is dizzyingly beautiful, Jasmine is a must for lovers of Asian cuisine.

Ensconced on a prestigious restaurant row in the MGM Grand, the Mediterranean-influenced seafood restaurant has been drawing conventioneers and locals since 2003. The space is appropriately oceanic, with shimmering water walls and coral murals. Jet-fresh sea creatures are skewered, grilled over apricot wood, and served in Moroccan tagines. Even simply marinated, the clarity of flavor in the premium ingredients is evident. Befitting a Michael Mina restaurant, presentation is stellar. Desserts offer the same seasonal commitment and Mediterranean accents.

Delmonico’s is tucked away in the Venetian Resort, near the Blue Man Theater. The restaurant is formal without being stuffy, and features USDA Prime steaks paired with a staggering variety of wine. Master Sommelier Kevin Vogt is one of only a handful of Master Sommeliers in the country. Chef Sean Roe prepares interesting variations on the classics, and many of the dishes are prepared tableside. New Orleans’s influence — from the jazz music in the background to the creole sauces — can be felt everywhere.
